 | that aims to develop innovative tactile display technology, which allows to display the text in Braille, as well as graphical information on electronically renewable, user-friendly tactile surface.

Reasons for implementing the project
- There are around 7.4 million visually impaired people in the European Union. TACMON project is to create innovative and affordable systems that meet the needs of people with sight problems need. High unemployment amongst the disabled is a serious social and economic problem for the EU, as continued exclusion from productive activity requires increasing state-funded support for social programs. There is a need for effective assistive technology to facilitate employment of the visually impaired and for industry to better be able to meet anti-discrimination legislation.
Project objectives
- Develop a computer connectible device with display that allows visually impaired people to read directly from a computer text in Braille, as well as receive other graphic information.
- To facilitate the visually impaired people approach to electronic information, improve their opportunities for integration into the labor market.

Project partners Project is being implemented in collaboration of 17 partners from 10 countries: TACMON project coordinator is Hungary Information technologies association - Informatika Vállalkozások Szövetsége, also participating four R&D centers form Switzerland, Spain, Hungary and Scotland, and also 12 technology transfer and innovation centers and companies from Latvia, UK, Malta, Greece, Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland, which organizes and gives its investment in development system.
