that aims at  improving training and raising the education level of vocational students in mathematics, physics and chemistry using the Information Communication Technology (ICT) based Exercise Generation and Evaluation System, increasing both the students’ motivation and interest in natural science subjects and their competitiveness in the labour market.

Reasons for implementing the project
  • There is a tendency in Europe for rise in specialists of social sciences, but there is lack of specialists of natural sciences and technologies.
  • Low knowledge level of pupils in subjects like mathematics, physics and chemistry.

Project objectives
  • Survey the educational systems and specific needs for teaching mathematics, physics and chemistry in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Slovakia and United Kingdom.
  • Adapt the Exercise Generation and Evaluation System to these specific needs and translate it into the partner countries’ languages.
  • Promote the implementation of the new ICT-based application in the vocational education systems of the partner countries.
  • Increase students’ interest in natural science subjects by familiarity with the attractive ICT-based tool.
  • Lighten teachers’ daily work load of developing and checking tests.

Target groups
  • Students attending vocational education institutions
The statistics show that the knowledge level of vocational students in natural science and mathematics is lower than in other schools, so there is a need for tools and methodologies to stimulate and motivate the students to study these subjects.
  • Teachers of vocational education institutions
Teachers of mathematics, physics and chemistry tend to spend much of their time creating, supervising and checking tests. One of the objectives of the project is to optimize and automate this routine work so that teachers can provide individual training for their students.

Project results

During the project has been developed the e-learning system GenExis that enables to learn mathematics, physics, chemistry, as well as any other subject in the virtual environment, it increases the students knowledge level, students motivation and interest to learn and helps to optimize teacher’s work.
This system has been developed to improve the efficiency of the educational process and the quality of knowledge assessment in mainstream schools, vocational schools, in universities and other higher educational institutions and in course providers organizations.
